THINGS TO DO
THE BEACH & THE LAKE
With pumping surf breaks, tranquil Tuggurah Lake and stunning ocean lookouts you won't be short of options when it comes to the beach.
Toward the south is Bateau Bay, best know for its beautiful beaches and Wyrrabalong National Park. Here you'll find Crackneck Point Lookout with stunning views all the way to Norah Head (on a clear day). Between May and August and you may just be rewarded with views of whales swimming past on their northern migration. It's also a great spot for surfers to check out wave conditions along the coastline. If you’re feeling energetic after a picnic lunch, why not take a short walk along The Coast walking track? The track stretches north for about 2km to Bateau Bay Beach picnic area, or south to Forresters Beach, about 1.5km away.
Heading north you'll find The Entrance. Bounded by water on three sides, The Entrance, certainly lives up to its name as the main marine mouth connecting Tuggerah Lake to beautiful beaches and the ocean. With ocean baths, a sheltered beach, surf breaks and lake access you'll be spoilt for choice when it comes to taking a dip.
Magenta Shores is just over the bridge, north from The Entrance. This beach is mostly used by those staying at the Magenta Shores Estate. Just a short stroll through a sandy trail, you will emerge to the picturesque Magenta Beach, just in between Tuggerah Beach and the North Entrance Beach. Unfortunately this is not a lifeguarded area with no flags which means it is not patrolled and is considered unsuitable for swimming but great for beach games and watching the sunrise. For those staying at Magenta Shores, the lagoon and rock pools within the estate are great for a dip!
Tuggurah Lake is a great option for those who prefer calm waters. Fantastic for boating, fishing and paddle boarding. It also has a lovely bike trail perfect for a family ride or a gentle stroll.
